Business Stationery

Hello guys!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  I have been beavering away designing my business stationery.  I got my letterheads and compliment slips back from the printers a few days ago:

I am so pleased with them I almost screamed with excitement when they turned up!  On that note, in the same delivery I received the Hen party invites that I designed for my sister.  So I got down to stuffing them into envelopes and sending them out.  The party is Saturday and everyone bar one can make it!

I am still awaiting the printers to deliver my business cards and name cards for the hen party  but they aren't being very communicative.  I was supposed to receive them last week but so far, nothing.  If I do not receive them in time for the hen party then I won't be using that particular company anymore.

Christmas is coming and I am almost all sorted with my cards and gifts!  What about you?  Although I am waiting on my partner buying tags.  He keeps putting it off because he thinks he will choose the wrong ones haha.

After being off work for quite some time die to illness, I went back last Monday.  It is going well but I forgot how stressful it can get.  I do love it though.  Especially when I am working on Create and Craft.  We had the Cricut cake on show today with our American guests Jinger Adams and Kirsty Day :-)

Well I do hope you all get your cards and wrapping done and I will check in in a few days to let you know how the hen party went!

My bad bad relationship........with printers

Hello all!

I am not having a good day today I'm afraid.  I not only ran out of ink the other day so ended up not being able to print my hen party invites and but now my printer refuses to produce me anything halfway decent.  It seems it has an issue with printing black, either coming out grey, pixelated or just grainy.  It is the quality that I am most bothered about.  You can hardly see the lovely Damask patterning, and the definition of text and shapes is just awful.

I can't decided whether it is my printer, or the settings, but I have really had enough today now.  I feel like I have been trying to do something so simple for way too long.  I don't usually have a problem with it so I think it is just out to get me today.  I will try another printer tomorrow but if all else fails I will get a quote and send it to the professionals.

Hopefully I will post soon with something much more positive! :-)

Hen Party Invitations

Even though I have already invited our guests through facebook,  I still feel it is important to formally invite people.  Also I can never resist an excuse to design something.  As my sister has decided she wants a Christmas themed Hen Party, the colours are to be red, black, white and green.  However I don't want to make the invites to simply look like a Christmas card so I am going with just reds and blacks for that 'saucy' hen party feel.

I know my sister will want a sophisticated look, so with this in mind, I designed a DL invite with a front and back.  The front explaining the Hen Party itself, and the back giving information and addresses.  I will show you a picture at the end of this post as it is not imperative they are secret.

Obviously I won't post the back of the invite as it has my address and details etc.  I am loving Damask at the moment and find I am including it in my designs quite a bit.  It really gives that chic sophisticated kind of look that I wanted.

Anyway, today I will be printing and they will be sent out by the end of the week.  So best get on!

Happy crafting!

Hen Party

Well the last few days have consisted of sorting my sister's hen party.  I have been looking at favours, games and decorations.  Red and black will be the colours as it is so close to Christmas.  In fact, since realising this, my sister has now decided she wants to theme to be Christmas now!  So Mrs. Santa's, Elves, Snowmen and fairies are on the cards for costume ideas.  Now I just have to finalise where I am going to get all this from.....  I would put up pictures of the tags and decorations I am going to make this week- but I can't just in case she reads this! I will after the event- only a few more weeks!

On another note,  she has finally sent out all of her invites for the wedding now!  Exciting times.  I can't decide whether to do an official invitation to the hen party or not.  As I have created a facebook event so that I could keep in contact with everyone over arrangements.  However it feels like the event warrants an invite.

Tomorrow me and my partner are giving to the needy this Christmas by taking part in the 'Shoebox Appeal'.  I hope some of you are doing something similar.  At this time of year it is so easy to get wrapped up in the commercialisation of the holiday that we forget those who have nothing, or very little.

Over the next week I will be making decorations and shopping for favours.  What are some of your creative projects over the next week?  I would love to hear about them!

Happy crafting!

Musings of likes and dislikes

I love the smell in the air after it rains, and the feeling you get when you have a 'completely contented' moment..... and a completely ‘blonde’ moment.  I am mad on spotted and striped print, colourful stationery sets and handmade artefacts.

Chocolate and cheese are amazing together.

I’m a passionate person who loves a big party but also a good ole natter, cream cake and a cup of Tetley.  I can’t get enough of the colours teal and white right now.  I love winter fashions and cuddling up in the warm.  I need curtains shut.  When I meet up with friends we like to sit in the darkest, warmest corner of the pub.

I love a candlelit church on an icy Christmas Eve.

The person I look up to most is my Mum.  She is amazing and I can only hope I will be just like her one day.  She makes me want to look for the good. There are people in life who will catch you when you fall............my Mum never lets me fall.

Family is everything to me.

My Gran is the font of all knowledge, my Dad is the one you can count on and my Sister is my ultimate soul mate.  I could have died earlier this year and it made me realise just how important the people that matter really are.  We are being looked after.

I loathe the touch of a rough surface on my palms; it gives me the heebie jeebies.  I don’t like the pungent smell of petrol and the sin that are crocs.  I can’t stand the toilet seat being left up, and freezing winds that make your nose run.

I always lose one earring.

Birdcage Business

I thought I would share with you the business cards I designed for the company.  They are obviously white and teal because I am a little bit obsessed with these colours at the moment.  They incorporate the business logo which I designed at the very beginning:

This is the front of my business card design and will be laser printed and embossed

This is the information side.  Although I cannot send them to print until I definitely know my web address, otherwise that will be a complete waste of money! haha.

The Beginning of a Journey

This is my first post and I thought I would share with you my design like and dislikes and my personal journey with my own work!  I love reading all you other design bloggers out there and am constantly inspired by the projects and pieces of others.

So who am I?  Well I am a 4 year old country bumpkin at heart, but a 24 year old city girl now who loves doodling and designing.  I work for Ideal World TV as an Assistant Producer.  I have been a freelance Illustrator since I left University and now I am about to embark upon a huge journey of starting my own wedding stationery company.  Any bits of advice would be more than welcome!

I have just started creating my company website which is coming along nicely.  I didn't actually realise how hard it is to make a website.  It took me an hour to figure out how to make corners rounded the other day! I have got the basics done but can't go any further until I have designed my products.
